What is EM Sculpt?

EmSculpt – Explained

If you’re thinking to yourself “What is EmSculpt?” then you’re in the right place!

Simply put, EmSculpt is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that combines fat loss and muscle building into one treatment. Using two different, synchronised energies, the treatment provides powerful body sculpting in just 30-minutes.

RF (radiofrequency) energy serves to increase the core muscle temperature. Working in the same way as warm-up exercises, this part of the treatment serves to prepare the muscles for ‘stress’. This energy also results in subcutaneous fat reaching temperatures that trigger apoptosis and cause fat cells to become permanently damaged and eradicated from the body. Clinical studies have shown an average fat reduction of 19% following treatment.

HIFEM (electromagnetic) energy causes supramaximal muscle contractions. These contractions help to improve muscle tone and strength by operating at an intensity that can’t be achieved during a conventional workout. The high-intensity muscle stimulation forces the muscles to adapt, creating an increase in muscle fibres and cells. On average, clinical studies have shown a 16% increase in muscle volume.

Will EmSculpt Work on Me?

If you want to burn fat and build muscle without hitting the gym, then this non-surgical fat loss treatment is perfect for you! EmSculpt is a suitable treatment for virtually anyone, regardless of gender, age, weight or build. Unlike many other body contouring treatments, EmSculpt is suitable for persons with a BMI of 30 and over. However, the treatment is most noticeable on those who have a relatively small amount of body fat.

You’ll begin to feel the difference after the first body sculpting session, with the most dramatic and visible results setting in around 6-9 weeks following treatment.

Several health conditions preclude people from being able to have the treatment. These include:

  • Scleroderma
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Cardiovascular disease

Additionally, the treatment is not suitable for persons who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have metal implants near the site of treatment, have undergone ablative chemical peels in the previous 3 months, or are fitted with a pacemaker or an internal electronic device.

EmSculpt Recovery and Aftercare

Now you’ve read about the treatment, you may be wondering “What is EmSculpt’s recovery time”? Well, the good news is, there isn’t a recovery time! As the treatment is non-invasive and virtually pain-free, you can get back to your normal activities straight away. The only thing you need to avoid whilst undergoing treatment are workouts that target the treated area (such as abdominal crunches, squats and burpees).

In terms of aftercare, we recommend a ‘top-up treatment’ once every 3-6 months to maintain your results. Undertaking regular exercise and eating a balanced diet is also an integral part of aftercare.
